The one thing about this election that is annoying me is the constant line 'UKIP....with no history in the seat'. We've even used it ourselves as a little media spin. But it's annoying as I worked bloody hard to get the results we did since 2010 with no help at all centrally. Not only was I a Parish Councillor in the Constituency but we had three 2nd places in the locals we've built up since 2010.

What parishes are in the seat, then?

There's only one parish in the constituency, the sole parish in Manchester as it happens, which is Ringway. Population in 2011 census 103.

I read something along these lines a few days ago and was surprised because UKIP have stood in all the Wythenshawe wards from at least 2010 onwards.

Yeah but most of the national media cannot get facts right on local issues or matters, because the vast majority don't care. When most of them do report local issues, they usually pick up the story second hand from either the local media or private eye. The only local area they tend to be interested in is london, and even then it isn't all of london. The independent is probably the most accurate of the national newspapers when it come to reporting local news. And the broadsheets are in general much better than the tabloids when it comes to accurate reporting of local news. Or accurate reporting in general. I hope that the Manchester Evening news did not say the above Chris, would make a mockery of my whole post.

What's left is very small. The census says 41 houses, one of which is converted into two flats. Most of these are along Sunbank Lane. I wonder if some airport workers live on site and therefore count as well.

Are the parish council elections actually contested, then?

The parish elections are not contested. It's facing extinction with the expansion of the Airport which I think is rather a shame.

Yes, I've just realised that a few seconds ago when I reached the end of part 2.
Amazingly this is the first time I've watched the 1964 coverage, because I deliberately made a decision a couple of years ago not to gorge on all of them in one go, so I'd have something to look forward to. Just by coincidence I've decided to watch 1964 now, when the most excellent uploaded Chris Latimer had apparently uploaded parts 3 onwards.
