So one bad instance proves that react/proact was rubbish? As the scheme enabled employers to access training and didn't actually provide training its self I suspect the fault lies with the company. Strange how just about every one else thinks it was a success - or are they all part of the secret Plaid conspiracy - including the First Minister of Wales? No ...one bad instance does not prove that react/proact was rubbish at all. Just that my first experience of it was rubbish...followed by a succession of other poorly trained products of the scheme also. As you correctly say, it's all about training however you appear to be glossing over the fact that of course there is a never ending succession of examples the WA having no apparent method or procedure of ensuring or measureing that they are getting value for money or that the money they are allocating towards schemes are actually producing a satisfactory end product. Which is rather worrying Politicians are always quick to proudly announce money and their support for various schemes 20,000 apprenticeships blah blah blah, training for this blah blah training for that blah blah. They are great soundbites but unfortunately us in the trades know the end result often of poor training and no jobs anyway in depressed markets for these unfortunate people whose hopes of a decent future are often dashed as a result of claims and promotions by disengenous politicians who frankly most of us wouldn't let run a bath. Lets not of course even mention the disaster that was the thankfully now scrapped WA Genesis project that cost about £800,000 per job created.

Well I am glad that you have retracted your assertion that proact/react was rubbish :-) And the UK government's activities in this field are of course without peer...

Plaid got their way with an August 1st by-election.
I think that Plaid are selecting tomorrow night. Does anyone know when any other party is selecting?

Must be the first time in years that a parliamentary reelection is held in August The last one was the second Fermanagh/S Tyrone byelection in 1981. The most recent on the mainland was Birmingham Ladywood four years earlier.

Labour shortlist
Julia Dobson (a teacher, stood in Isle of Anglesey locals this year) Daniel ap Eifion Jones (works for some charities, stood in Isle of Anglesey locals this year) Tal Michael (again. Alun Michael's son. Stood as PCC candidate for North Wales, shortlisted for Arfon 2015 nomination) Paul Penlington (Denbighshire councillor, the one who wasn't originally declared elected because they put some of his votes in the Tory pile; former LD GE Vale of Clwyd candidate)

There were some not very strong rumours that Albert Owen would put his name forward but that seems not to be the case - unless he wasn't shortlisted !!

I'm not surprised to learn Rhun ap Iorwerth is a member of the Blaid, although I thought he kept his bias hidden rather better than BBC Scotland's Brian Taylor.

Indeed. Rhun has been selected as the Plaid candidate. It was tonight, not tomorrow sorry. When is Labour selecting?

Steve Churchman has been selected for the Lib Dems.
That's 3 candidates declared now.
What does everyone think of the Plaid-Labour battle? I have a feeling that Labour selecting Tal Michael is a bonus for Plaid, for a number of reasons.

He stood as a candidate in the Seiriol division in the county council elections and finished sixth of nine candidates (polling 582 votes and missing out on a seat by 313, which was respectable - given the presence of several prominent Beaumaris names on the ballot - but not stunning or anything). Roughly 22% of Seiriol's voters gave a vote to Fairlamb (for comparison about 49% voted for Plaid's leading candidate - who was elected, obviously - and about 34% for Labour's top candidate - also elected).

Bigwigs (Or more likely, one big ego) in the local Labour Party aren't happy with the selection of Tal Michael as Labour's candidate. John Chorlton (Ynys Mon party chairman) has gone running to the main North Wales newspaper, The Daily Post, to tell them that he is not happy that he wasn't selected. He said... 'Obviously I’m very disappointed. There were five names and the one with the most experience and length of service wasn’t chosen for the shortlist.' Apparently Mr Chorlton is now considering his future with Labour. www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/anglesey-election-process-blasted-after-4752701

Why do people suddenly discover that a party that either doesn't select, or reselect them (or select them for another role from that they currently occupy)is one that they haven't been happy with for quite a while? I get increasingly pigged off with elected representatives, whatever the party, when they seem to be so self-regarding, hypocritical and lacking in self-awareness. It isn't like it was an All-women list. Sometimes you don't make the grade - deal with it. I don't particularly aim this at Mr Chorlton, it is a general gripe.
