Would the Green Party accept a member who has just stood against an official Green Party candidate? It's against party rules to campaign against a Green Party candidate whilst a member. But I don't think there are any rules about doing so before being a member, unless you actually won and your membership application therefore has to go through the defection protocol. Ok, that's helpful - I joined today. How to get a Green name?

Not if it takes you a month to deliver just 2,500 leaflets you’re not. It’s going to be almost certainly a low turnout election with a fractured field where a low vote share will be needed to win. You only got elected for Reform because of AMS, iirc. At the very moment the thread was frozen I was about to point out that it had reached the same number of pages as the number of "on the day" votes (don't know about PVs as these were counted on a boroughwide basis) I got in Hillrise ward as Reform's candidate for the North East Assembly constituency in 2021. I am now a few posts too late to make that observation as we've ticked over to the next page but never mind, I'll make it anyway.

I mentioned it in the mod discussion thread but not everyone may have seen it, in order to avoid giving more material to be responded to when the time comes can we please move on from discussing that particular candidacy and discuss other aspects of these elections if desired?

20% drop for Labour in Hillrise. The question for 2026 is where is Labour going to be vulnerable in Islington and to whom? There will be, I imagine, a full slate of Green candidates across the Borough and the Greens will be hoping to gain seats beyond Highbury. Will there be a slate of pro-Corbyn Independent candidates in the Islington North constituency? How would that impact on Green prospects in Wards like Tollington or Tufnell Park ? What about Islington South? Presumably the Greens would have a clearer run having taken second in the GE. Could we then see an informal arrangement with the pro-Corbyn candidates fighting in the north of the Borough and the Greens the main challengers in the South? I doubt it would be an exact north-south divide but I could definitely imagine some cooperation between Greens and left wing independents- if a given ward has a significant left-wing independent standing in it then it may be to the Greens' advantage to only run two rather than three candidates for example.
