Police have told Le Figaro that trouble is expected tonight in Nantes and Douai.
The small business federation reports that its members are extremely concerned about what happens tonight, and in Paris, Grenoble, Saint-Étienne, and Rennes in particular, shop windows are being boarded up.
Edit: police also expect organised attacks on state institutions and individual candidates.

Finistere sticks out amongst the Breton departments. I blame the shipping forecast.

Finistere sticks out amongst the Breton departments. Like a sore thumb indeed.

I’m trying to follow the LeFigaro live thread and 3 pro-NFP commentators are spamming it to death….

Will this benefit RN or NFP? I'm not well versed enough in regional trends to parse the map.

It seems like most the the departments where the turnout has increased by more than 20% are LR/RN strongholds (Grand Est, PACA, SE) or are in Brittany

Turnout soaring to record heights. Highest since 1981. A year with which you could draw a lot of parallels. Edit: if it can get to 70.86 per cent, it beats 1981.

A lot of the most fertile ground for the RN on that map.
Nord looks to have a much higher turnout than its neighbours.

Based on how much of the increase is in areas that are now very unfriendly to the left, a strong increase in turnout against RN (if the increase is against rather than for RN) would come from Ens supporters rather than NFP supporters.

High turnout means more triangulaires (12.5% of the registered voters is the threshold to qualify for second rounds candidates outside of top 2).

Paris and other large cities keep voting till 7 or 8 o'clock. This turnout record looks there to be smashed.

It might be a decision by each préfet. Individual municipalities can do it, or whole departments. Yvelines is apparently staying open in its entirety.
