Oh poo. I blame Jeremy Corbyn for distracting my fingers. The correct figures are: For the purposes of the illogical and impertinent demands of the rules of the competition, my prediction (as of 30th May) is as follows: Con 215 Lab 360 SNP 23 LD 30 PC 2 Green 1 Reform 0 WPB 0 SDP 0 Others 0 I have edited my original post to put in the correct number, but because of the tyrannical obstinacy of the competition Dictator / Tsar it was necessary for me to clutter up the thread with another post. To be fair if you're going to have to plot potentially dozens of predictions on a spreadsheet, it makes sense to have them all submitted with the same parties in the same order. The inclusion of the SDP in the list of parties is eccentric though..
People suggested including the SDP because they were standing in a lot of seats. It got included on that basis, I could easily not have incuded it.
It has been worth including the SDP, due to the extent it upset the future dictator of the world and his legion of rampaging hippos.

The only reason I insisted on the format is that the dictator of the world and his hippos were being an arse about the SDP's inclusion, you'll notice before that I was interpreting the posts even if not all parties were written down as requested in the rules.
I guess I have the following options going forward.
1: Insist on all 10 options being included. 2: Laissez Faire, interpret predictions sensibly.
3: Laissez Faire, interpreting predictions sensibly for all but the dictator of the world and his rampaging hippos, who must always post all 10 optioons. 4: Close the competition down.
I am leaning towards options 3, but am happy to be advised otherwise either on this thread or through a poll.

I have never at any time in my life “been an arse about” anything, least of all about the inclusion of the SDP in the competition. I merely calmly rationally logically pointed out, in a very calm and polite and measured and constructive manner, that the SDP is inevitably going to get only a tiny number of votes in all the constituencies it stands in, and that it is therefore the extreme of hallucinatory insanity for anyone to think or suggest that it is necessary for people to predict the number of seats for the SDP - when everybody already knows that everybody will predict 0 seats for the SDP. If you continue to rampage down the street hysterically cutting the heads off old ladies with a scythe, then the natural indignation of the hippopotamuses will reach a point at which they will spontaneously want to sit on you, in order to persuade you to be more reasonable and open-minded, without needing any encouragement from me. |

TD/T has set a format that simply excludes the Speaker and NI. Perfectly reasonable, although, ofc it can be done in other ways. It's the simplest of things to copy and paste the ten choices. Anyone making a big deal of it is being obtuse. I will place the format here for easy access & use:

format-wise that looks fine. Not a bad prediction either, though I would tend to award Labour a good 20 seats more & the Lib Dems a good 20 seats less (will work out precise predictions in the fullness though)
