The highlands have let the whole country down. One of the greatest things about the UK is how we wrap the whole things up in a working day.

I am very happy at the SNP screwing. You must be disappointed about Moray though? Moray is disappointing, but a few always slip through the net. I wish some sort of vote swap agreement could’ve taken place between hesitant labour/tory voters in Moray/Aberdeenshire North, and the two Dundee seats. Painfully close in all 4 cases. Maybe David could’ve organised it

I think that would be a very stupid idea on the SNP’s part.

Have they not declared this result yet?
I am getting visions of the Goon Show election count:
‘Five thousand seven hundred and sixty-one
Five thousand seven hundred and sixty-two
Five thousand seven hundred and sixty-three’
‘Would you like a cup of tea?’
‘Yes please, now where was I. Five thousand seven hundred and sixty (mind goes blank).
One
Two
Three. ……..’

I think that would be a very stupid idea on the SNP’s part. Especially as their candidate has actually conceded.
The word 'Winchester' comes to mind for some reason.

I think that would be a very stupid idea on the SNP’s part. Oh but the entertainment value. Both now, and in any ensuing Winchester 1997 scenario!

Unfortunately for them, the result self-identifies as a Lib Dem victory.

I think that would be a very stupid idea on the SNP’s part. Facing the orange team in a by election is always a fools errand

Where are the scrutineers? There don't even seem to be any chairs there for them.

Having been at a count for 7 hours, and which now finished 35 hours ago, I’m genuinely amazed how they can still be there

At least their counting the final 2 candiates now.

Winchester 1997 the count resumed the following afternoon with completely new teams of counting agents and scrutineers. By the time the final declaration was made I had pretty much been awake for 36 hours, so that was probably a sensible decision.

I think the counts should be spread over three days anyway - just to keep the lobby hacks in money...😉.
N.b my own opinion is that we should count on the Friday anyway. Fewer tired eyes for a start.
