Lisa Cameron, incumbent since 2015, is standing down at this election. Her socially conservative views rendered her increasingly unwelcome in the SNP and after a slightly unconvincing damascene conversion regarding constitutional politics defected to the conservatives last year. She cited isolation in the SNP parliamentary party after supporting the victim of alleged sexual harassment in her reasoning, but the defection did come on the day she was expected to be deselected.
The SNP has therefore nominated Grant Costello, the party HQ worker widely expected to win the selection contest against Cameron to defend their 13,169 (26%) vote notional majority. If you count Kilmarnock separately as part of Ayrshire, this is, by the numbers, the SNP's safest seat in Greater Glasgow.
Perhaps not expecting the bizarre circumstances that have led to a possible gain, Labour selected Joani Reid as their candidate. who was a councillor for Lewisham Central between 2014 and 2022. I can't comment on their expectations (and it has occurred elsewhere in Scotland and England), but its not the best possible optics for Labour.
The projections and polls are currently split on which side of the SNP-Labour divide this one will fall, so it will be close here, with the ending of the Conservative period the only guarantee.

Very interesting. She needs to play the 'Dad card' here - it will go down well with older generation, traditional Labour voters.

I tend to think that if you're electing somebody to a mostly London-based job, it doesn't make much sense to object to the fact that they have worked in London.

Noticed him on the ballot a couple of times when voting, can’t say I ever bothered to find out anything about him though!

Have the Tories picked someone here and will Lisa Cameron campaign for them? She might but with Labour’s recovery and unionist tactical voting the Tories will be heavily squeezed here

Although this is probably the wrong thread...
