I think 'Leila Cunningham' is actually 'Laila Cunningham', who has been shortlisted in several selections for more winnable seats. She's been a Westminster City Councillor for Lancaster Gate ward since 2022.

Don't think the SOPN is up, but Crick reporting that there's no Conservative candidate here.

"Worlers Party of Great Brotain" is when you ask AI to come up with candidate photos.

This is the first time since 1970 that any constituency in Great Britain other than the Speaker's seat has not had an official Conservative candidate.

Great Britain perhaps but Northern Ireland has often had no Conservative candidates and until the late 1980s the Conservative Party had a policy of not standing candidates in Northern Ireland

I suspect the Bookmakers will be trawling their books for any " substantial bets " placed today for Reform to win the Rotherham seat ... Given the number of Independents, Greens etc representing various factions, and only one option for the right/centre right , it's not a bad shout !!

Great Britain perhaps but Northern Ireland has often had no Conservative candidates and until the late 1980s the Conservative Party had a policy of not standing candidates in Northern Ireland Strictly speaking, up until 1972 the Ulster Unionists took the Conservative whip and formed part of the Conservative and Unionist Party majority in e.g. Heath's government from 1970-72. So I think it is only the general elections of 1974 (both times), 1979, 1983, and 1987 in which there were no Conservative candidates, but with the caveat that even since formally re-entering the arena in 1992 they have been pretty patchy and without checking every constituency I couldn't't swear to there not having been an election in the noughties when they didn't field any candidates.
