Penny finally dropping for the supporters of mass immigration?
For decades you were warned that you were willingly importing, against the will of the majority, morals and values that are medieval in nature into Europe. As a result, instead of a continent that is the beacon of liberty and progress you thought you were building, you've instead created balkanised communities and ghettoised cess pits of homophobia, misogyny and religious fundamentalism. You've dragged us back at least a century in some respects, and centuries in relation to the religious fundamentalism on our streets which in some aspects is of a nature not seen since the time of the Wars of the Three Kingdoms/The British Civil Wars. Well done lads.

This is a crackpot problem, not an immigration problem.

This is a crackpot problem, not an immigration problem. One or two elderly drunks in a pub does not equal ghettos, violent religious fundamentalism and no go zones. But you keep your head in the sand. Fat lot of good it'll do you in reality, but if it makes you feel better...

This is a crackpot problem, not an immigration problem. Immigration has definitely brought some of the issues mentioned, but some people who grew up here also have similar issues as mentioned. These issues are not just due to immigration or crackpots, they are societal ones where both immigration and crackpots are a factor. The UK has changed since I went to school, and immigration is part of that. Its brought good and bad, just as previous immigration waves did. A drop in immigration rates whilst we assimilate those who are already here, probably wouldn't be a bad thing.

We have immigration because we need people to work here in important jobs. Those who call for an end to it, or who attack those of us who believe that it is mostly a good thing, lack answers in terms of how we staff the NHS and do the many jobs which they probably would refuse to do themselves. The worst cranks in my experience are just as likely to be White British keffiyeh-wearers as people who worship at questionable mosques. Certainly the worst anti-Semites in my own party were very, very frequently of indigenous stock, with Jackie Walker (part-Caribbean with some Jewish heritage) and Tony Greenstein (100% Ashkenazi Jewish like me as I understand it) the best-known exceptions.

Work permits exist. Let me say that again. Work. Permits. Exist. We do not have to have mass immigration for permanent settlement. That is absurd. The colossal cost to our public services aside, we are losing our national character as a nation, what the Japanese used to call "Kokutai", and frankly there many victims of this. Chief among them are women, and men like me, gays. We've seen what's happened in Sligo, we've seen what's happened in Dublin, we've seen what's happened in Dresden, we've seen what's happened in Reading, and I am not willing to go violently into that good night for your naive kumbaya values. The presence of some fire and brimstone bigot in Speaker's Corner, does not justify, excuse, legitimise, or make up for the importation of violent foreign homophobes. A great many of the values outside Europe are alien to ours, they are an existential threat to our civilisation and we are inviting them into Europe at grave cost for present and future generations. To argue otherwise is an insult to my intelligence and, frankly, homophobic.
I also, call me mad, believe that we should be aiming to train our own people to work in the National Health Service, rather than systematically looting the LEDC's of their talent, talent which they paid to train. It's costly, unfair, lazy and keeping the poorest and sickest people on the planet poor and sick, and why a socialist endorses that is beyond me. Seems pretty neo-colonial if you ask me.

So I’m homophobic because I’m glad my wife was able to come to this country? You need to calm down and play nice. By all means argue your case but you cannot blanket-accuse everyone who disagrees with you of homophobia. Kindly withdraw that sentence.

But haven't you accused - slyly - people of anti-semitism simply for questioning whether it is correct to call Galloway anti-semitic ?

Re the above discussion, in *some* respects the Independent candidate here is quite Westernised aren't they? So its not as simple as immigrants refusing point blank to adopt "our values" - more about them being selective in which ones they adopt and which ones they don't. And yes, it is also totally true that rabid homophobia and misogyny were close to mainstream positions well within my lifetime (and it was, for example, legal for a man to rape his wife into the 1990s!) Indeed, "indigenous" people holding those sort of views certainly still exist and haven't gone away. Andrew Tate, anyone?

Well yea, but it's simple to argue that homophobia and misogyny are baked into islamic theology and culture in a way that is no longer present in mainstream British society. Andrew Tate is notable precisely because he is exceptional in this respect.

Garbage. Load of anti-Muslim, pro-Israel nonsense. I don't particularly like him, but was talking to/with the the Muslim men in the meeting. He is "allowed"...

I had ‘what are you doing here’. I live here (I have done for 6 years), it’s a democracy, I replied. Had no fear for my safety personally, but I heard about this incident. Just outrageous. No respect for democracy. I suspect they know they’re going to lose so are turning nasty.

All of you who were gung ho on immigration and welcomed multi-culturism can enjoy reaping this ongoing whirlwind of hate as the large body of 5th columnists shaft the real British out of their own nation.
