I have it on fairly good authority that labour candidates in the last few days have been told to stay away from the streets, stay away from public meetings, go to count as late as possible. Do nothing till Fri morning. Bollocks. Why would they do this? Who/what is your "fairly good authority"? Some bloke on the internet?

I repeat I have it on a fairly good authority that most Labour candidates since the beginning of the week have been have been told to stay at home, do not attend hustings, do nothing in their seats.
Obviously will not apply to tight marginals like Uxbridge, Harrow Chingford...etc

I do not engage with extreme, aggressive or rude members. Sunak on ITV GMB this morning really did come across as a relaxed nice man. I think I like him and trust him more than the shifty, untrustworthy Sir Keir who has lied / u turned / been nasty on countless issues from 2020 I will ask without being extreme, aggressive or rude. Why would they do this? Who/what is your "fairly good authority"? You can’t come on to a political forum like this which is full of knowledgeable and experienced campaigners, say something like this and refuse to expand upon it.

I think I like him and trust him more than the shifty, untrustworthy Sir Keir who has lied / u turned / been nasty on countless issues from 2020 I’ve nothing against Sunak. He volunteered to take on a near hopeless task of damage repair in far too short a space of time for there to be much electoral reward. He’s done some fairly political things to try to narrow Labour’s space for manoeuvre but that’s normal. He acted against Johnson but I can’t say I blame him. And he was critical of Truss’s ideas before she pressed the self-destruct buttons. He’s not a natural politician and has displayed his clumsiness a few times over the last 5 weeks. Starmer isn’t a natural either. His campaign team is clearly far superior to Sunak’s which has normally covered that. He’s pretty ruthless. I didn’t vote for him and I doubt I’d particularly like him. But that’s not relevant to how he does the job and anyway party leaders, even as prime minister, come and go. Their personal power is quite limited. It’s the broader strategic choice and the party that signifies that that really matters.

Sunak often comes across as tetchy or irritable when challenged, this is undeniable and admitted even by his supporters.
And was smearing Starmer as a threat to national security earlier this week the action of a "nice man"?
Didn't see this morning's interview, but if he came across better that might just be because he has finally accepted the likely outcome tomorrow.

@weld may have been suspended from here but evidently members cannot stop gossiping about him. Speaking of suspensions I have it on fairly good authority that labour candidates in the last few days have been told to stay away from the streets, stay away from public meetings, go to count as late as possible. Do nothing till Fri morning. I have to be honest, whilst I have suspected for a while, this just makes it obvious...

Sunak isn't a member of the Labour Party, he isn't on the right of the Labour Party, so by default, to many who supported Corbyn and his policies, Sunak is automatically the nicer, better, lovelier man than Starmer.

I thought you might be comparing norflondon to a departed poster supposedly from that part of the world we had a few years ago.

Am thinking of leaving, it seems to me this place has a disproportionately full of right wingers, Lab centrists, Islamaphobic, Left hating types who seem to be quite pally and know each other or at least others identity.
Meanwhile GB news poll out at noon shows Labour on just 36%

I’d probably plead guilty to the Labour centrist accusation but not to any of the others. You are participating at THE febrile time for political activists of any shade when fuses are rather shorter and the need to set out a position (pointless though that might be to this audience) is near compulsive.

I think the 'I've deleted my post [containing a factual error], please can you delete yours [which corrected it]' formulation was the giveaway tbh

Well the mods do have the power to check IP addresses if there is a suspicion that one poster is a sockpuppet of another.
But anyone who thinks Starmer is going to lose here has been drinking deep in the wells of delusion - or delulu as the kids put it these days.
