A blatantly racist witch hunt. If she is not allowed to stand, I hope she publicly condemns Starmer as a racist - as evidenced by the double standards apparent from his embrace of Elphicke into the party. She should make herself available to the broadcasters every day right up to July 4th. "She should make herself available to the broadcasters every day right up to July 4th." That is urging a very high risk strategy but one I would be delighted to see her accept. I like to see a good TV car crash of an evening.

From a forum protection point of view can be please be careful about suggesting racist motives and make sure there’s evidence of it if doing so, particularly when it references individuals ie Starmer This might be denying black people the right to challenge racism. The report ordered by Starmer, by a QC into Labour stated there was a "hierarchy of racism" found in the Labour Party. Labour Black Socialists say: "STATEMENT: We said all along that Keir Starmer has been blocking Diane Abbott's reinstatement. He has lied to the media, his MPs, @uklabour members & the people. His treatment of @hackneyabbott is just as heinous as Frank Hester's abusive, racist threats to Diane." Having stated that I'd agree direct accusations of racism of any kind need to be considered meticulously with a heavy heart.

An age old issue. The report ordered by Starmer, by a QC into Labour stated there was a "hierarchy of racism" found in the Labour Party. Labour Black Socialists say: STATEMENT: We said all along that Keir Starmer has been blocking Diane Abbott's reinstatement. He has lied to the media, his MPs, @uklabour members & the people. Having stated that I'd agree direct accusations of racism of any kind need to be considered meticulously with a heavy heart. It's not racism. It may be hate, loathing of a big mouth loose canon, but racism no. Other Black politicians are on the front bench. It's interesting that everything is racism when a black person is the victim. Ho hum. Its the modern world.

Diane Abbott herself hasn’t accused Starmer of being a racist as far as I can see yet, not in public anyway. I’m certainly not shutting down discussion about the decisions around this or any issues with the wider culture that people maybe have but I thought a couple of posts were just getting a bit close to making more personal accusations that could be libellous

Q why doesn't Diane Abbott have the whip back yet? A. because Starmer and his friends have already promised the Hackney seat to someone else. ? Might this seat have been offered to Luke Akehurst?

It seems the investigation in Abbott's case finished months ago. She got a formal warning in December 2023 for "engaging in conduct that was in the opinion of the NEC, prejudicial and grossly detrimental to the Labour Party" and was asked to undergo an antisemitism awareness course. She took the course in February (a 2 hours online module) but she wasn't given the whip back then. www.bbc.com/news/articles/c8vv4ep92y8oAnybody who completes one of these ridiculous courses is unfit to hold public office.

If it was only 2 hours of “online” i.e. listening to gibberish and/or answering a few fatuous questions, she might have done it just out of curiosity and gone through the motions for the lols.

The Times' Exclusive: Diane Abbott will not be allowed to stand for Labour at the general election, The Times understands If true, I hope she stands as an Independent. Many seem to fancy her chances. Moreover, she could do that whilst at the same time attacking Starmer in the media.

If it is true that Abbott refused the anti-Semitism training then, in my view, she should not be given the whip back. However, if she has not only undergone the training but been cleared by the inquiry, and that inquiry is now completed, then it's very hard to justify not restoring the whip at the very least

Abbott is a wrong un in my view, her Mao comments particularly irk, but to see her stand would be popcorn grabbing drama.

Christ, Luke Akehurst - how low can Labour go?
Akehurst would probably be the worst candidate possible for this seat, so I hope - in some crazy reality - it is him. It would drag me out the house to campaign against Labour every waking moment.
