He might feel a loyalty to someone who has supported him and shared the experience of how he has been treated by Starmer and his henchmen. Whether she’s been treated fairly or not I don’t think Faiza Shaheen is really as important a figure in the world of left wing politics as she seems to believe she is That may well be true but that does not mean that Corbyn will not feel empathy for her. Nominations close tomorrow . I wonder wheher any Camaign MPs might then decide to come out with public endorsements of both Corbyn and Shaheen. That would be entertaining.

I'd be surprised if any Campaign MP endorses any non Labour candidate

Another one that people definitely knew the whole time that she was a fruitcake, but mysteriously didn't want to mention it.

It depends how confident he feels in his own seat. Were he to address a mass rally in her support, it might make quite an impact. Its an independent campaign in a system that rarely elects them, even if he’s confident it can hardly be taken for granted Anyway would he really want to burn further bridges with Labour by interfering in other seats in addition to standing against them in his own? That would be a further escalation it wouldn't matter. He has been expelled & there is no way back for at least 3 years even if he loses. If he thinks that Labour will speedily readmit him he is mistaken (not for the first time)

no, trust me, they really won't. Not the ones who are standing for re-election. It's possible that those who have not been selected (Mick Whitley, Beth Winter) could do. Sam Tarry is geographically nearer but I find it hard to see him endorsing a non-Labour candidate openly even though he is without a seat (he doesn't seem to have tried very hard to get another one).

If Tarry campaigned for a non Labour candidate then surely Rayner would be under immense pressure?

Corbyn should say: "A new dawn has broken, has it not?" if he wins...

Corbyn should say: "A new dawn has broken, has it not?" if he wins... It would have about as much significance as S O Davies being re-elected in 1970 as an Independent or for that matter Dave Nellist had he won Coventry South East in 1992 rather than coming third.

Not really quite true. Neither of those gentlemen had ever been Leader of the Labour Party. However, you are right in that there are limits to its significance.

The Workers Party candidate has withdrawn. Are they backing Faiza Shaheen, then?

The Workers Party candidate has withdrawn. Are they backing Faiza Shaheen, then? Of course, they are. However, for Faiza to gain more traction than she already has, she would need Jeremy Corbyn's endorsement.
