For Conservatives, Grantham & Stamford WAS one - Quentin Davies and Nick Boles. I don't think I've ever disliked any MP more than Quentin Davies. Heavens, that’s a pretty firm view in what must be a fairly crowded field? |

I suspect that even John McDonnell's worst enemy would hesitate to compare him to Terry Dicks, mind. Well quite - Terry Dicks was never a supporter of the IRA or chairman Mao for example, nor do I recall him joking about lynching his political opponents. There's no comparison really. Dicks was a bit of a booliack at times - McDonnell is vile scum. |

McDonnell did at least apologise eventually for his support of the Provos and even admitted that it had probably extended the number of murders. Some contrition at least. |

What strikes me, looking at the parliamentary history of Rochdale, is the number of big names who stood there but failed to get elected - George Barnes, Dan Irving, R.H Tawney, and more recently Nancy Seear (as well as obviously Ludovic Kennedy) |
