Does anybody ever think of planning for retirement? Or am I nuts?
I know, it's not an either/or

Well, seeing the media reports of Eric Idle's claims of having to work due to the drying up of Monty Python royalties, I am sure he would welcome a version of it. The reaction to that really did highlight to me that people think that all famous people are resting on millions. Once the repeats dry up, the money dries up. Don't these people ever have pensions, y'know, like ordinary folk.

Former (and indeed late) Eastenders actress June Brown admitted that she kept working into her 80s because her savings dried up. However the papers report that she left millions in her will so maybe the truth is somewhere in the secrets she took to the grave.

She might have bought a house in London 50+ years ago for a relative pittance that is now worth a million plus. That doesn't necessarily mean she had loads of cash lying around.

You are going to look sooooo stupid Not really, the percentages are still questionable - they certainly were at the time of posting, nobody saw this coming. Oh! I wouldn't go that far. It had certainly crossed my mind.

Surely any sleb or vaguely wealthy person would have an accountant, who in turn would make the most of the pension allowance and its tax benefits.
But in this case he's been living abroad.

Howarth) 0.7 OMRLP 0.5 Independent (Tully) 0.4 New prediction due to the exceptional circumstances of this by-election since the close of nominations (i.e. a candidate defending the seat for their party being disendorsed, in addition to another party candidate being disendorsed): Workers Party 34 (Independent) Labour 24 Reform UK 20 Conservative 14 Liberal Democrats 3 Independent (W. Howarth) 1.5 Independent (Coleman) 0.9 (Independent) Green 0.8 Independent (M. Howarth) 0.7 Independent (Tully) 0.6 OMRLP 0.5 I have put (Independent) in brackets to note the 2 candidates disendorsed by the party they were standing for at the time the statement of persons nominated was released.

When the Workers Party find out that Galloway is a Catholic and disendorse him you can have another go He will only mention if he is elected, so as to disprove claims of Pro-Muslim bias . Then probably on a local radio station rather than national media, so it disappears into obscurity. I have been invited onto Muslim TV, not sure just yet if I'll appear, but if I do, and Rochdale comes up, I will mention his Catholicism as often as it seems polite to do so.

I can't recall if he mentioned his faith in Batley or printed on his leaflet that although not a Muslim he abstains from alcohol.
