If you're planning to campaign in Highgate ward, there's an excellent pub next to the Heath called the Bull & Last, a bit expensive but some nice tipples in there. It's independent so well worth it. There's also the Southampton Arms on Highgate Road not far away.

Highgate is important to me as my parents were married in Highgate Synagogue. Which has since moved round the corner.

I'm a former resident of Highgate ward, and my local was the Dartmouth Arms. Which like half the ward is not what people would call 'Highgate' at all.

There's also the Southampton Arms on Highgate Road not far away. This was one of my favourite boozers when I lived in North London. The Harringay Arms (several incarnations ago) was also a cracker.

In point of fact, about 43% of the population of Plaistow North is Muslim. Highgate is a very different ward. Both the Jewish and Muslim shares of the vote are comfortably under 10% and in many other respects its demographics are notably dissimilar from those of Plaistow.

Thanks East Anglian lefty. Is Highgate in Holburn & St Pancreas or Hampstead and St Kilburn or maybe in the new proposed seat of Hampstead and Highgate for the next UK election? One MP would be pro-Palestinian Tulip Siddiq and the other Sir Keir Starmer.

Given that it's going into the new Hampstead & Highgate seat, it'll be interesting to see how well the LDs do in Highgate. I believe the LDs will be the long-term challengers in that seat (looking at local elections) and may seek to turn it into the next Hornsey & Wood Green.

It goes without saying that it is moved to Hampstead & Highgate in the new constituencies. The clue is in the seat's name.

The LDs have never been a factor in Highgate ward (Camden as opposed to the Haringey one) and in a Green v Labour contest they ought to get squeezed once again. I remember when Highgate ward in Camden was a Labour-Conservative marginal, but that's a long time ago now.

Thanks for all these responses so I assume that the order will be Labour or Green first and second, then Conservative and then LD.

I now understand that Lorna Russell was a Labour councillor in Fortune Green for seven years and a Deputy Mayor of Camden, so assume the Labour party will do everything to try and stop her being elected as a Green.
In Sowerby and Topcliffe Dave Elders is a former Conservative councillor from Hambleton District trying to retake the seat.
