I can't vouch for the accuracy of this but Surprised not to see more Reps from NY and CA on that list tbh. It isn't a definitive list, many are not talking in public. However I have had some talk that a quite a few GOP representatives and reluctantly concluded that their least bad option is to give the hard right the Speakership and then let them have to face the tough decisions. Plenty of GOP reps are simply sick and tired of acting like responsible adults only to get slaughtered as RINOs and sell outs. If the moderate wing of the GOP cave it will simply be a result of utter exasperation.

The establishment will be fair less obstinate than the MAGA wing of the party and there is no incentive for many to make a stand now - that said, it would only take a handful to derail Jordan and given his rep you have to imagine there would be enough to do that?

I can't vouch for the accuracy of this but All these voted for Trump apart from Bacon’s (NE-02), IIRC. You can take Vern Buchanan off that list. He’ll back Jordan.

Quorum call completed. All 212 Democrats are in attendance. 220 out of 221 Republicans answered the call.

By the sounds of it Jordan is very unlikely to win initially but he’s got the numbers close enough where he could go multiple rounds to try and win over the hold outs

If the moderate wing of the GOP cave it will simply be a result of utter exasperation. Feels we have seen where that leads in the UK with the Tory party- with moderates consistently going along with positions they disagree with and ultimately becoming marginalised and less relevant. They need to stand up and fight even if that means taking on the populist and radical wings, if they aren't to become hollowed out. So I hope that you are wrong, that they are so exasperated and tired just to give in. Let's see.

Didn't catch who he voted for but Jake Ellsey voted for someone other than Jordan.
That's 5 GOP rebels already so Jordan can't win on this vote.

This is going to be humiliating for Jordan isn't it? McCarthy was never more than 15 or so holdouts away, which is why he always looked like he'd get there with attrition. Jordan's going to lose dozens at current rate of defections - he'll be in nowhere near as strong a position to negotiate.

Second chance for those who didn't answer first time round
Ken Buck votes for Tom Emmer
John James votes for Tom Cole
Doug LaMalfa votes for Kevin McCarthy
Victoria Spartz votes for Tom Massie
So 20 rebels in all going by my count
Gus Bilirakis didn't vote.
