Well assuming he actually applies for Northstead/Chiltern Hundreds...
This constituency is proposed to be split in two in the current boundary proposals, with a new Frome seat taking in the Midsomer Norton area from North East Somerset and a Glastonbury & Somerton taking the Glastonbury/Street area from Wells. I imagine that a Lib Dem by-election winner would be likely to stand in Glastonbury & Somerton.

Positive, now the Lib Dems can settle with this and Labour can have Mid Beds, Selby and Uxbridge

Sarah Dyke, the Lib Dem candidate and by election winner, lives near Wincanton so she would almost defitnely stand in that seat.

Warburton's letter to the Chancellor. Interestingly doesn't actually mention a request to be appointed to one of the Stewardships but "informs him of my decision to stand down".
Reveals the ICGS has found against him and he has a pending appeal, but "I have not the smallest hope that this appeal would be conducted with a balanced view".

Of course if the Labour Party have any sense we'll give the LDs a taste of their own medicine by running a proper campaign in this seat as well as the other three

Positive, now the Lib Dems can settle with this and Labour can have Mid Beds, Selby and Uxbridge Lol To be fair, it depends on when the byelection takes place; if Nadine Dorries finally quits after throwing a hissy fit on Monday, one could see a second double byelection day. Somerton and Frome are a definite top target for the Lib Dems, with Labour unlikely to put up anything more than a small local campaign, and there is a fairly large Labour vote to squeeze. In Mid Beds, Labour are not going anywhere and I would be surprised if the Lib Dems would, in that case, not choose to focus on a definite chance to win, rather than take a risk on both, when Labour are likely to be boosted by winning one or both of the earlier byelections. If I were Rishi Sunak, my tactic would be to delay Somerton and Frome until Mid Beds as, in the first place, it would stop three separate possible electoral disasters and maybe have only two. Indeed, having the Lib Dems fighting on two fronts with Labour fighting hard in Mid Beds, the Tories might hope (maybe in vain) to hold on there. I love political machinations.

A sitting LDem MP makes them clear favourites š in the new seat

But there isn't really a Labour base in the seat. Frome used to be a Labour constituency but only because it included the Somerset coalfield - which is long gone and was mostly outside the constituency. I suspect those 8,354 votes were spread quite evenly.
Note the Green Party saved its deposit in 2019 and has now taken over as the main anti-Tory party in Frome - might mean they fancy having a run on it as they have a lot of pumped up activists in Bristol who might quite like some campaign practice.

Frome itself used to have quite a strong Labour vote as well as one or two rural wards towards the coalfield like Coleford. I expect Labour's vote was concentrated there to a certain extent.
Presumably Robin meant that the new Frome seat will be a three-way fight
