An interesting consequence of this is that it has caused ructions within the SDP. There's a lot of unease as Reform have a similar arrangement elsewhere with the SDP and many of the SDP membership view Reclaim with a mixture of bafflement and unalloyed horror. It didn't help that some in the SDP were against the Reform pact anyway given their vastly differing views on the economy. Wtf is the the point in the SDP. Are the 3 social democratic parties in parliament not enough already? What the hell have the current SDP got to do with social democracy? I am genuinely puzzled why people think they are?

Laurence Fox to stand here for Reclaim (with the support of Reform) An interesting consequence of this is that it has caused ructions within the SDP. Closer to Leeds, perhaps easier?

But those ones are all EU-philes.

I am genuinely puzzled why people think they are? I figured they were shouty like Ukip with more explicitly workerist economic policies.

So:
Receipt of writ Thursday 15 June Notice of Election by 4 pm on Monday 19 June Last day for delivery of nomination papers could be as early as 20 June (if notice of election given on the same day as receipt of writ), and as late as 26 June Polling day could therefore theoretically be 13 July or 20 July.
Same applies to Selby and Ainsty.

Pretty decent activist turnout... The London Labour party is huge in terms of membership - 5,000 plus in my CLP alone and quite a few others of the same order. Any by election in the Greater London area is going to get big turnouts especially if there is a Boris Johnson factor.

Imagine this activist turnout, plus those from the Eastern Region and other parts of the UK, in Mid Beds after projected wins in Uxbridge and South Ruislip and, quite possibly, Selby and Ainsty.

The SDP label was very successful in terms of brand recognition. I wonder to what extent members of the general public believe this outfit to be related to the original version set up by Roy Jenkins, Shirley Williams , David Owen et al.

Guido clearly had a whole battery of - pretty tenuous - stories ready to go as away of bolstering Boris ahead of the GE, what I don’t understand is why he has such a strong personal investment in Boris?

I notice from the BBC local news report that Alan Hope is intending to stand in Uxbridge & South Ruislip. A reminder that the last time there was a parliamentary by-election in Uxbridge, the OMRLP got more than ten times as many votes as the UKIP.
