Excellent. Losing Selby now would be disappointing but at least the media narrative is shaken up.

I wonder if this is a kind of reverse Bootle moment for the Monster Raving Loony party

I do abhor this government, but I abhor Sadiq Khan more. And I had a bet on this outcome (9/1)

Tuckwell's speech was spot on, completely understood what just happened and put it that way.

15 lost deposits. That will cover some of the costs.
Agree that Tuckwell's speech was good.
This will be leading all the headlines now - Labour lost control of the narrative here.

Did the Greens swing the result?

Did the Greens swing the result? Our small increase in vote share was less than the gap between Labour and Conservative. So probably not.

But surely it's the total votes you got that matter rather than the increase in share, ie who would those voters have gone to if not Green. Not that the Greens or LDs can actually be blamed for Labour losing of course

Would the people who voted Green otherwise have voted Labour, if they’d voted at all? That’s a bit of an assumption.

With the 2022 locals and students away I thought this would be closer than expected but didn't expect a conservative win.
UKIP result hilarious.
