I've taken a dog campaigning before. Wouldn't recommend it That's one of those jobs for an octopus. Left hand 1 holds the bag of leaflets. Left hand 2 holds the small current bundle of leaflets. Right hand 1 delivers the leaflet through the letterbox. Left hand 3 assists with holding or pushing stiff or awkward letterboxes. Left hand 4 holds the copy of the electoral register and/or canvassing notes. Right hand 2 holds the umbrella, if it's raining. Right hand 3 opens and shuts the gate. Right hand 4 holds the dog lead.

I've taken a dog campaigning before. Wouldn't recommend it Great for including in a photoshoot, total nightmare for canvassing or leafleting. I had to take my dog with me for a canvass session in 2018 because he was still basically a pup and not used to being on his own for more than an hour or so and the session was the other side of the borough. I was running the clipboard rather than actually doorknocking but every time I had to shout “wait” at the dog, the other members of the canvass team thought I was giving orders to them and they stopped in the street 😂

They are taking it seriously ... don't remember them doing this in N Shropshire + Tiverton/Honiton. Any word on Lib Dem activity/strategy in this seat? I do.

Not so early in the campaign. Yes, exactly this early. It was similar to this, a few high profile individuals and a lot of social media chatter and then it hit a bit of a wall. With Uxbridge & Selby to take care of I expect the same to happen again, especially when they start getting demoralised.

Surely Labour has the resources for London to take care of Uxbridge and South Ruislip whilst Yorkkshire and the wider North of England covers Selby and Ainsty! That leaves Mid Beds in he hands of the Home Counties and Eastern Region - ie MK , Luton, Bedord et al. Herts, Bucks and Essex.

There are many options in between 'campaigning hard to go for the win' and 'paper candidate, no one bothers'...

It has a Southern Region, which includes Bucks, and an Eastern Region which includes Beds, Herts & Essex.

3 candidates announced so far:
Green Party - Cade Sibley Independents - Gareth Mackey (supported by the Council administration so a proper independent grouping) True and Fair - Alan Victor

Argh!
I could go off on one.
Positively inviting NIMBYism.
That really, bloody annoys me. Short-termist, short-sighted, partisan approaches which hamper this country.

We have a formal electoral pact here folks!
Dave Holland will stand for Reform:UK in Mid Bedfordshire. They have a deal with Reclaim, who will not stand here, but Laurence Fox (yes him) will stand in Uxbridge.

Michael Crick is speculating on candidates.
Tories: He's mentioning Ryan Henson (prev. Bedford candidate, well connected) Helen Harrison (N Northants cllr, Peter Bone's partner) Emma Best (Waltham Forest cllr)
Labour: Alistair Strathern (Waltham Forest cllr) Sam Russell (SW Beds CLP chair) Gemma Widdowfield (local) Sudesh Rani, Mansoor Nasir (Bedford) Sarquib Ali (Bedford)
Lib Dem: Chris Adams (centrally connected) Henry Vann (Bedford cllr + former parliamentary candidate)
