Has Nadine done a number on Rishi? 'You can't have a peerage now, but I promise I'll make sure you get one when you retire from the Commons.' 'OK. Look - I've retired.'

Awaiting the announcement but presumably she will be Steward of the Manor of Northstead.

Any idea what the vote shares have looked like in recent local elections?

Any idea what the vote shares have looked like in recent local elections? Not a neat one to do as I recall because there were a lot of Independents. My calculations were that councillors elected in May in this constituency were Con 15 Ind 8 LD 1 Green 1

Nadine Dorries stands down with immediate effect . She editted that to change "someone younger" to "another". Lmao, wouldn't want to be seen as agist, just won't do nowadays.

I suspect Labour will be tempted to hold back here but it is a mistake for the long term future of the party to concede the rural commuter south to the Lib Dems imo

I wish MPs would inform the Chancellor, not the Chief Whip.

I wish MPs would inform the Chancellor, not the Chief Whip. She could have tweeted: "I'm delighted to have been appointed as Crown Steward and Bailiff of the Chiltern Hundreds. Due to the pressures of the role, I will cease to be an MP, and look forward to devoting all of that hard work to my new position."

I am have a theory: the resignation has nothing to do with being left off the Honors list. Johnson has shown her the Privileges committee report. She is standing down to give him a seat.

Blocking a peerage because you don't want a by-election, only for the MP to resign anyway in a fit of pique at not getting a peerage, just about sums up this government of self-serving scoundrels and ratbags.

Sunak should now be able to (and should) renege and refuse to put her forward for a peerage in the dissolution honours. Let her cry when Sharma gets his.

Has she actually been granted the Stewardship of the Manor of Northstead? I can't see it on the Treasury news page. If she hasn't...
