Leicester UA, Abbey - Labour resigned
Oldham MB, Alexandra - Labour died
Thanet DC, Cliftonville East - Conservative sitting as Independent disqualified following prison sentence
16th May - 2
Rotherham MB, Rawmarsh - Labour resigned following election as Police & Crime Commissioner
Weymouth & Portland BC, Melcombe Regis - Conservative died
23rd May - 1
Bolsover DC, Whitwell - Green resigned
30th May - 1
Lichfield DC, Fazeley - Conservative sitting as Independent resigned
Current known vacancies where by-election not yet called - 4
Edinburgh UA, Liberton & Gilmerton - SNP died 3rd April - by-election reported to be on 20th June
Newark & Sherwood DC, Farnsfield & Bilsthorpe - Conservative died 15th April
Nottingam UA, Wollaton West - Conservative died around 6th April

Margaret Bates Conservative councillor for Liversedge and Gomershall ward on Kirklees MBC has resigned .

Cllr Bill Kay, a Labour member for the Glenrothes North, Leslie and Markinch ward of Fife Council, sadly passed away at the weekend. And I'm sorry to hear Margaret Bates has resigned from Kirklees. She was a lovely woman and dedicated councillor. Does anyone know the reason? |

Nine candidates in Walkergate (Newcastle upon Tyne)! bit.ly/16mpFIfLib Dem, Labour, Conservative, UKIP, Green, Newcastle First, TUSC, two independents. It's not even a ward that has seen many candidates outside the three main parties. In fact, as far I remember the only candidates have been the BNP and the Communist Martin Levy's sometime ward. Neither are standing. The BNP seem to have disappeared as a force since their highpoints in Elswick and Fenham. More surprised not to see Levy stand as he did relatively well last year. Still have no idea why Tania Armstrong stood down after only one year. |
