Reeth Rural District Council used to be one of the smallest principal local authorities in England, before the 1970s reorganisation. Population 1,828 in 1961, 1,639 in 1971. Boundaries here: www.visionofbritain.org.uk/unit/10002618/boundary show it's not that much different to the current ward. |

By election on January 30th Amber Valley DC Heanor East ward reason not given but the missing councillor is Phil Hill , Labour . There also appears to be a vacancy in Heanor West ward missing councillor is Bob Janes , Labour Bob Jones has died www.ambervalley.org.uk/?p=3017 |

However, on a totally unrelated matter, I am fit to be a councillor because I have a job, I don't get drunk the whole time, and I wouldn't threaten to have a publican defrocked if he refused to let me in his pub because I was too drunk. |

May Day, Staffordshire Independent Group member for Cellarhead on Staffordshire Moorlands District Council died on 14 December aged 71. Did she used to work for Zorin Industries back in the 1980s? I don't know; her death is in today's local newspaper but there's no accompanying report (it's little more than a sports 'paper on a Monday). I'll keep an eye open and post back if there's any tributes to her later this week. |
