Seen labour doing the canvassing but nobody else I live in Flixton ward, apparently reform and SDP had a street stall in the shopping centre today though.

Thanks for the update. Can you say what the the bottom 4 parties leaflets were about (assuming you didn’t immediately bin them)? 1- Reform was about the local CAZ( clean airzone) which they want to scrap & attacking the tories 2- freedom alliance was much about anti lockdown and anti WEF than anything to do locally 3- Rejoin was about the EU and the local candidate here complaining about starmer backing a tory brexit 4- SDP was very much about cultural war and attacking the tories on the cost of living

What would be the relevance of that? Something fundamental happening to the structure of Freedom Alliance. The front page of their web site ( link freedom Alliance ) has a resignation statement from:- Kaela Banthorpe (Chair), Jonathan Tilt (Leader), Denise Boot (Nominating Officer), Jackie Ward (Treasurer), Lance Burkitt (Executive Committee member), Joanne Allman (Executive Committee member), Jane Lord (Executive Committee Member). Claim is intolerable personal attacks on the above 7 members. See web site for further details. They wish Christina Glancy FA candidate at S&U well in the forthcoming By-election.

The lizard people must be delighted that the focus is elsewhere.

Who do they think is responsible? One of the two left on the Executive? The resignation statement claims :- " We believe that these attacks are being sponsored by external actors who wish to harm the wider freedom movement." The statement is dated 8 Dec 2022.

The lizard people must be delighted that the focus is elsewhere. Yup. One of my family, who is attracted to global conspiracies as an explanation for the woes of plucky Brits, suggested that commands were issued to compliant politicians by the shadowy people she sees as being behind the World Economic Forum, and that attending was a mark of Cain.

It’s as usual very irrational. The World Economic Forum is a talking shop for the rich and powerful to chew over world affairs and feel good about themselves. Some of the ideas that get discussed are fine. But the key thing here is that the Forum is very definitely public. You can’t have a good conspiracy unless there are small groups of people doing conspiratorial things behind closed doors. You certainly can’t have a public conspiracy. Surely conspiracy theorists can do better than this?

Conspiracy theories about the WEF are particularly weird, because there are things they've openly said that you could easily and fairly criticise. See also Soros. Then again, even criticising the Great Reset paper seemed to attract people who thought that reporting the WEF's own publication was to indulge in a conspiracy theory.

Number ten seems a bit out of synch with the rest I absolutely do not want to get into a discussion about the EU or covid, but my personal impression is that the most fanatical rejoiners are also the most fanatical about covid restrictions. Maybe to do with that. Or maybe they worry that a Lib Dem meeting will get taken over by EU related discussion. I'm guessing a bit admittedly.
