A complete misunderstanding of why votes in the USA take this long to count. If you want instant gratification rather than a proper process then forget elections and try Youtube cat videos. Votes take longer to count in some places than others because some authorities are more efficient than others. Compare Sunderland with Tower Hamlets or Florida with California. Those that take a long time are rightly derided. The speed at which they count in Sunderland has very little to do with efficiency.

Blackburn South and Lower Darwen is in my parish, this is an impressive gain for Labour. The idea of a narrow win is not the same as in Oldham.) I’d say those 3 are a good result for Lab ( Darwen), an ok one. ( Blackpool) and a bad one ( Oldham ) Well, given that Darwen and Blackpool are gains, they are both good for Labour. Labour held Hollinwood, so it is acceptable (with questions to ask).

Tories becoming the party of the middle-class Asians with the only Asian candidate andrewteale describes the Ward in his preview as “one of the white working class Wards of Oldham”, so unlikely. Read about smear tactics against the Labour candidate from "Tameside" haven't a clue what that means tho

Read about smear tactics against the Labour candidate from "Tameside" haven't a clue what that means tho They were a previous member who lost their (different) seat in May, that sort of thing can often be easy to campaign against if the council is unpopular.

Didn't the BNP also have a practice of attaching their own seals to ballot boxes in some places? Yes but I thought lots of the parties did/do this. I've been attending counts pretty much every year since 1979 and I don't think I've ever seen it, other than the bnp.

Read about smear tactics against the Labour candidate from "Tameside" haven't a clue what that means tho I’ve just re-read the Oldham Preview and can find no reference to a “Labour candidate from “Tameside”” so sadly I have no about what you’re talking about.

Thanks - the three votes transferring from Alba to the Tories is hillarious. The three UKIP- Socialist transfers remind us that there are a few voters out there who are anti politics and will vote for the least mainstream party irrespective of left/ right.

Thanks - the three votes transferring from Alba to the Tories is hillarious. Only in terms of unionist - nationalist, which may not be dominant for all voters. If you think in terms of socially conservative about certain issues, it actually makes a lot of sense
