why would she do anything to lose her parliamentary salary until the moment when she formally took up the ‘office of profit under the crown’

Yes, it was widely thought she would vacate her seat on November 1st when the new post supposedly became operative - but that, for whatever reason, hasn't yet happened.

On the Trust website, they have removed the old chair, and listed another board member as "Acting Chair", so presumably it isn't completely finalised yet.
