Crossgates and Whinmoor in Leeds: Lab 2481 UKIP 1582 Con 587 Green 229 LD 145 Labour majority 899 Would you have expected such a strong UKIP vote (and poor LD) I expected UKIP to place a good second. Granted 1,582 was on the upper end of the range of likely votes for me but they've put time in the ward, and have been building support for a couple of years. It was unclear to me that they'd break the thousand barrier, but they smashed it in the end. The Liberal Democrats only lost to the English Democrats in 2012 who were not standing today, so I also expected them to come last with less votes than before.
