Also a by election in Kingswell ward, Gedling District Council. A split ward - one Lab & one Con - the Lab guy has resigned - he would have been a surprise winner in 2011 when Labour did even better than in the 1995 elections.

Welwyn HatfieldSuprised there is still any labour councilors left around there with at which rate the parliamentary seat is rapidly becoming a very safe tory seat.

There were very few left by about 2008 but they've made a half decent recovery in the area, in contrast to Hemel Hempstead where they now have only one councillor. They've no county councillors currently but expect that to change in May

An election has been called in Digmoor, one of the Skelmersdale wards of South Lancashire Borough, the seat held previously by jacqueline Coyle (Lab) (retires 2015). West Lancashire not South Lancashire, although neither designation is entirely accurate. (I think it was named that way because Ormskirk and Skelmersdale are chalk and cheese, and naming it after either would mortally offend the other)
