Notices of Election have been published for two Conservative seats in East Hampshire - Alton Wooleys (David Orme) and Liss (Gina Logan). It looks like the Alton Wooteys election is actually for Alton town council due to the resignation of Jacqueline Saunders, not for the district council seat held by David Orme. The Liss election is a district seat.

A notice of election has been published for the Chase ward of Malvern Hills District Council, for the seat of Steve Brown (Lib Dem). Chase is a three-member town ward in Great Malvern and the other two seats are held by the Conservatives. Steve Brown is also the retiring member for Malvern Chase on Worcestershire County Council.

I think the final tally of by-elections on 2 May is 117 - which is the equivalent of some three full councils.
There are 104 vacancies in shire districts, taking place alongside the county elections, 68 in districts with whole elections and 36 in districts with elections by thirds.
There are 13 further vacancies in areas, which otherwise do not have elections on 2 May - 1 in London, 4 in Metropolitan Districts, 4 in Unitary Authorities, 2 in Wales and 2 in Scotland.
Last week Middle Englander listed 119 potential by-elections. 6 vacancies on his list have not been called for 2 May - Barking and Dagenham, Leicester, Rotherham, St. Helens, Salford and Lichfield (Fazeley). 4 further contests have been identified since Middle Englander compiled his list - in Taunton Deane, Runnymede, East Hampshire (Liss) and Malvern Hills.

It appears that the Conservative candidate for Scarborough Esk Valley has withdrawn so that will be a Conservative loss and as even if the Conservatives win the other byelection on May 2nd they will have lost overall control of the council has they would have only 25 out of 50 councillors . The Real Whitby blog website has interesting comments on the remarkable pro Conservative campaign the local paper is conducting attributing it to the fact that the editor is a beneficiary of the local Potash mine , the scandal about which contributed to the resignation of the previous Conservative councillor .

Does anyone know how many of todays local council by-elections will be counted tonight?
Will any of the 103 contests where there are also County Council elections?
There are 14 contests where there are no County Council elections - 5 in Metropolitan boroughs - 4 in Unitary Authorities - 1 in London - 2 in Wales - 2 in Scotland
I assume the 2 in Scotland will count tomorrow.
Can we expect the other 12 tonight?
