The comments were made in 2015 apparently (as, AIUI, were the other comments people are making a fuss about). She didn't name the MPs, but people are guessing who they are (Birmingham Mail link).

I doubt he will even come close, primarily because his main support base is in Coventry, not Birmingham.
I've been waiting many years for a shock Conservative gain in a Cov seat because Comrade Nellist gets enough support to split the Labour vote. It would be a truly joyous thing...

You'll be waiting forever, then. Nellist's personal vote in St Michaels has been continually shrinking since he lost his seat a decade ago, and is even smaller in any other ward you care to name. He hasn't even saved his deposit in a Westminster election since 2005.

I'm curious as to how Sir Nos Da The Good Knight got the OMRLP nomination here.
No pubs in Erdington that Alan wanted to spend the day in?

There are a few boozers there, though like everwhere fewer than there once were. I used to be on the dominoes team for a pub in the city centre, and one of our away trips was to the Yenton, a big pub on the Sutton Road near the Chester Road junction, Yenton being an old name for Erdington itself. There's the Red Lion near the station as well, but I must admit that I haven't been up that way for a drink in quite a few years so my knowledge is way out of date.

I've been to the Spoons in Erdington itself after doing the trio in Sutton Coldfield in early 2015. I highly doubt I've ever been to any other pubs in the seat.
Laud Hope is a fellow Spoons ticker (with a tally slightly higher than mine I believe, in the 700-750 range), so in all likelihood he's done all those in the area already.

some news on possible turnout from Rachel Wearmouth who has the ear of LOTO Whilst I'm a few miles from Erdington, it's been cold and rainy pretty much all day here in SE Birmingham and it's currently chucking it down.

I don't read her comments as praising those involved in the Trojan Horse episode - given that she goes on to criticise two (un named but not difficult to guess) MPs, I read as her criticising those representing the Muslim community from within Labour for acting first and foremost as Muslim representatives rather than Labour ones. Some of her other comments are more troubling perhaps, but I don't see that she is praising Trojan Horse. (An issue of more immediate concern - why did Labour not put her up for the hustings a few days ago and send Preet Gill instead?)

Any, even a small, chance of a shock Labour loss here? The last minute negative comments from their candidate, international news causing a distraction, Labour thinking they have it in the back, weather factors. Could it happen?

No chance, but this is another scenario of the new MP in a long-held Labour seat being immeasurably worse than their predecessor.

Labour getting in the expectations management early.

Just how low will the turnout be? I was earlier predicting that turnout would not exceed 30%. With the additional factor of rain on polling day, it will likely be around 25%, despite the seat being semi-marginal.

There's also been very little coverage about it due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine at least in the national press from what I've seen (mind there's very little coverage of by-elections these days). I wonder if the lower turnout could lead to a surprising result.

Labour getting in the expectations management early. I was in the constituency for a short time today and wouldn't describe the weather as "absolutely grim". It wasn't particularly cold, there wasn't much wind, and it was raining slightly.
