OK, this is a rumour that I heard yesterday. Johnson can't afford to meet all his domestic obligations on his Prime Minister's salary so is going to stand down in January. I can see a certain logic to this: he will have delivered Brexit which was his primary focus; it will be a godawful mess, but he has a long record of walking away from those; he was not anticipating his premiership getting enmired in the Coronavirus problem and is not going to want to be around when the inevitable public inquiries start pointing the finger; his illness has obviously left him even less capable or performing efficiently than he used to be; his performances at Prime Ministers Questions have been utterly lamentable and Starmer is just going to carry on plodding rings around him; and his popularity with the public has waned to the point where it has been replaced by an indifference that won't take much to tip over into the sort of permanent hostility now faced by Blair. I don't think Johnson has ever, in his entire life, given any thought to the fact that his obligations might be heavier than his resources. Whatever 'obligations' are...

He certainly comes across as the sort of person who would refuse to acknowledge that he actually has obligations.

Well to be fair I think it's a matter of record that he does fulfil his personal obligations in certain fields. it's just that it doesn't ever occur to him in advance. Or that there might be a 'budget'.

He's through to round two Worth reminding everyone that it's done a consensus based approach, with the WTO committee taking soundings etc, rather than a series of run off votes.

He's through to round two Five candidates have made it to the second round: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of Nigeria, Yoo Myung-hee of the Republic of Korea, Amina C. Mohamed of Kenya, Mohammad Maziad Al-Tuwaijri of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Liam Fox of the United Kingdom.
The next phase runs from 24/9 to 6/10, with the aim of reducing the number to two candidates.

Bet they wish they hadn't been seen by their own councillors to disadvantage British Indians/Hindus in their selection now.

No it wouldn't - it has been a constant complaint by Labour for years that whenever they are in power, the PM is always referred to as "the Labour Prime Minister", whereas the Conservatives are always "the Prime Minister". Nothing to see here.
