Bet they wish they hadn't been seen by their own councillors to disadvantage British Indians/Hindus in their selection now. I am trying to remember the coverage of the selection process, was it controversial? You could say that. The thread from the 2019 General Election was an entertaining one: vote-2012.proboards.com/thread/13358/leicester-east

Rutherglen & Hamilton West? Sadly there’s no intelligence test requirement to run for office. Wonder if the SNP will discipline her however?

It would be a very interesting by-election indeed. The 19th most marginal seat in Scotland and #54 on Labour's target list. Can't see it happening this year even if she does resign though.

Why couldn't we have an all postal vote by-election? In reality it would probably be scheduled for the same day as the Scottish Parliament election (and may not be be the only by-election that day).

The SNP will try and contrast the action they have taken with the handling of the Cummings situation.

Actually, if people are seriously hacked off with the Covid-19 restrictions and then see them so appallingly flouted by their local MP, a recall is possible. One can see her being disiplined under this condition: "Following on from a report from the Committee on Standards in relation to an MP, the House of Commons orders the suspension of the MP from the service of the House for a specified period (at least 10 sitting days, or at least 14 days if sitting days are not specified)." If so, would the locations designated by the petitions officer be easily accessible in these times? You sign the petition by post or appoint a proxy to sign for a recall petition.

I'm not sure it comes under the remit of the Standards Committee. It would be a police matter, but as she would only get a fine at worst, I don't think the recall provisions would be met.

Isn't the fact that railway lines pass through multiple counties pretty much the reason why the British Transport Police was set up? Bet it's the Tartan Plod though...

On what grounds would a recall take place? It's a fine at worst for this IIRC.

It seems a stretch, but putting colleagues, members of staff, members of the public, police around parliament, then commuters and rail staff, etc, at risk, seems like something the Standards Committee might want to discuss.
