Congratulations to Robert for the month (was it ever in doubt?) and to Iain for the win in this very interesting and problematic final week. Thanks, YP, but it certainly felt like it was in doubt! After establishing a initial lead, I recognised strong challenges coming in turn from Andrew P, then European Lefty on Tuesday, and finally Toylyyev who nearly caught me with an inspired read as it went down to the very last contest to be declared. Overall I thought collectively we did well with a large number of unusual and difficult elections and fewer collective disasters than usual! |

And the perils of tardiness, I’d have been 3rd for the month if I hadn’t been late on the first week. Not that I’d have caught the two masters. Plus also Yellow Peril losing 60 faults for one very minor slip that similarly caused an undeserved monthly position. In fact I have a lot of sympathy for him, I know precedent was applied but it does seem a harsh rule. (And is why I suspect most of us use a previous entry as a cut and paste template rather than typing all out from scratch?) |
