EPSOM & EWELL DC; Cuddington Although I grew up in Epsom I know very little about this ward. It's the northernmost in the borough up by Worcester Park station. Just to the south of the station is the point where Epsom & Ewell, LB Kingston and LB Sutton all meet. The eastern boundary of the ward (& E&E borough) follows the Epsom to Wimbledon railway line and the south western corner runs along Kingston Road/A240 but I can't recall ever going into it. In contrast, it’s the part of the borough I know the best, as my mum’s best friend lives there and has done since I was a child, formerly on Cuddington Avenue and now officially on another road but one house away from being on Cuddington Avenue. While outside the ward, I’ve always approached it on the A2043 from the A3 junction. I’m sure the A2043 used to be a B-road in the 1980s.

EAST DEVON Exe Valley KEMP, Jamie (Liberal Democrats) 190 WRAIGHT, Kevin (Conservative) 164 DANIELL, Michael K (Labour) 161 Although they came last that's really a very decent result for Labour there on top of their gain in East Devon earlier in the summer.

Yes, the remarkable thing is that I rather expected they would take votes from the LDs and so let the Tories back in- but it almost looks as though they took votes off the Tories to let the Lib Dems back in!

Ah, fair enough - it seems odd that the golf club isn't in the ward! Anyhow, this is not an area rife with poverty and destitution...
This is exactly the sort of Ward/seat naming idiosyncrasy that I have a problem with. Either Cuddington golf club should be in Cuddington ward OR the ward should be called something different OR the club renamed.
For years Hillsborough stadium wasn't in the Sheffield Hillsborough constituency. It's just stupid, and such nonsense should never be allowed to get past public consultation.
Hillsborough Stadium isn't actually in the suburb of Hillsborough but in neighbouring Owlerton. We Sheffielders are, not, sorry for any confusion caused.

Of course, at one point the suggestion was that they moved to Dublin, which would have been not just another ward or council, but another country... not that the authorities would ever have allowed it. why not? It was alright when Chester or TNS did it. Only Chester's pitch is in Wales, the Deva Stadium's main stand, and therefore the club's address and office is in England (you literally enter Wales when you cross the touchline...).

Hillsborough Stadium isn't actually in the suburb of Hillsborough but in neighbouring Owlerton. Oi! It's in Wadsley Bridge. Owlerton is the other side of Hillsborough Park, almost a mile away. The Wednesday Ground became known as the Owlerton Ground only because the tram there was the Owlerton service, running through Owlerton, along Parkside Road, and returning through Hillsborough along Middlewood Road, verses the Hillsborough service which went the other way.

But pre-2004 wasn't it in the Owlerton ward? Proof if ever it was needed that names shift constantly and we'd be fools to insist on any form of permanence or consistency.
