Mark Goldsack (Con) was briefly district councillor for the ward on old boundaries after winning a by-election in June 2017, before losing his seat in 2019 (he was the top placed Conservative then). He has also been county councillor for the Soham North & Isleham division since October 2018 when he won another by-election (in the process beating the Lib Dem whose resignation has caused this by-election) and winning re-election very comfortably this May.

This peculiar west London place name was formerly known as Wormholt Scrubs. 'Scrubs' denotes scrappy semi-wooded land. Worm comes from 'wyrm', the olden-times name for a snake, while 'holt' is another term for wood. So the land was once a snake-infested woodland.

Pendle Hill and Bredon Hill are Hill Hill Hill.

A Yorkshire dialect word for Scrub is "Scrog". Near me is a country track called "Long Tongue Scrog Lane"

A glance at the Urban Dictionary shows that the meaning is now very different

Although I grew up in Epsom I know very little about this ward. It's the northernmost in the borough up by Worcester Park station. Just to the south of the station is the point where Epsom & Ewell, LB Kingston and LB Sutton all meet. The eastern boundary of the ward (& E&E borough) follows the Epsom to Wimbledon railway line and the south western corner runs along Kingston Road/A240 but I can't recall ever going into it.

But it isn't very near Cuddington ward. It is near the boundary between LB Sutton (Cheam South ward, boundaries may have changed now, Cheam ward?) and Reigate and Banstead (Nork or Banstead Village).

But it is very much in London, even if outside the administrative boundaries.
