Labour vote seems to be trickling slightly downwards as the later (on the day?) votes come in.

I must admit "we were so dire our supporters gave their votes to the opposition" is not an excuse I ever thought I'd hear from a major party

Is this anything more than a digital application of New Zealand's ban on polling day campaigning and display of materials?

Just speeded through the above YouTube stream in about 30 mins by using the right arrow button. The male newsreader (?) in the studio looks like he's got Winston Peters' hair and Tom Watson's glasses.

Last result (from a ballot box in Bay of Plenty) just returned. Final figures show NZ Labour with 49.1% and 64 seats so enough to govern on their own if they want to. Labour has also set a new record for the largest number of votes, and has the highest share of the vote for any party since 1951.

There is something to be said for counting on a polling station basis.
