Hill had the backing of the other two Independents elected in Park End. More local than the support of the Mayor for James, I judge. Delighted to see priceofdawn win the week, well done, I love to see victory spread around. That's why I prefer golf majors to many other sporting events ...

In Middlesbrough i didn't have any idea which Independent was which, or which was the de-facto "hold" Independent, so I just copied the previous prediction to decide which one was more prominent. Now I blame Jeremy Corbyn for the fact that I didn't research properly.

I have a feeling that in somewhere like Middlesbrough, the electorate get fed up with the local establishment, which for years had been Labour, and try Indies instead, only to discover in time the Indies have simply become the new establishment. So they venture forth in search of new untried Indies to replace them, and most of us didn't spot in time that that was the point in the cycle we were now at, though I suspected as much as soon as I saw Robert's prediction and guessed he was on to something. The trick is to be able to measure that effect, compared with say the now established Indies having learned all the tricks of the trade on how to win elections.

Presumably a rumour from the Lib Dem’s 😉 There are reasons to think about 5 of those 8 candidates could poll well. Might make some of us look very foolish.
