I would guess that Wimbledon is moving very rapidly up our target list... Labour's result there last time was sub-par for London, and of course it neighbours the "orange trinity" of Kingston/Sutton/Richmond.

I believe he remains on the sex offenders register for 10 years And that is exactly the time where any sex offender needs to remake their life - 10 years treating them as pariahs is not a way to rehabilitate. There is no reason whatsoever why he shouldn't deliver some leaflets. Agree completely Mike

Correction: Labour were 875 A genuinely friendly word of advice - maybe hold off tweeting if a result looks *really* odd, prior to confirmation (or otherwise)?

Agree, Mike: Yup, wouldn't suggest having him as a candidate, though.

Why? I assume he served his time? Rehabilitation and change doesn't happen by restricting people from involvement in everyday life. No redemption for nonces

Labour's result there last time was sub-par for London, and of course it neighbours the "orange trinity" of Kingston/Sutton/Richmond. The Lib Dem’s would have to win councillors in the Mitcham and Morden seat (which is a mini Barking and Dagenham) to stand a chance of gaining the council. They however could definitely become the largest opposition like in Southwark and Haringey.

FOD council are being a bit coy about reporting progress in Newent and Taynton. I'm hearing it's very close between the 3 LDs, 3 Tories and 3 Inds

I think its really appalling that someone in my party should make a comment like that. Yes - rehabilitation is an aim for everyone. Not worth the risk. Ever. Nonsense. The fact is that we don't have state execution of people, and in many cases the activity was production of images rather than actual activity - so after the prison sentence they are going to back in the community. If you want to encourage them to repeat the offence then not encouraging and facilitating rehabilitation is very likely to facilitate it, even more than with other offences, although its a general rule which can be applied across the board.

And as with other offences, sexual crimes vary in seriousness - even "nonces" aren't a monolith.

Hearing it's 1 Ind, 2 LD in Newent, in that order Would be a very good result for the Lib Dems if so - they haven't really had any presence in any of the wards that contributed to this ward.
