Any bets on turnout? 10%?

Any bets on turnout? 10%? That's a reasonable guess. The PCC by-election in the West Midlands produced a turnout of 10.4% in August 2014. Depending on what time of year it's held, it may be a little higher than that, but not by much.

A chance for the Brexit Party. An extra £350 million a week for policing? £350m for police? That's more than a few coppers. And enough to really, really confuse Diane Abbott.

The timing of this by-election will be crucial, as in, if they do it too early I won't be technically registered at any address in Newcastle at the time and that's not on.

I had an elderly relative who stayed with us during the general election, she had been in a long housing chain and was essentially ’homeless’ for 2 months until her moving day. She voted at her old address no questions asked.

Hi, I'm sure someone with admin rights can start a topic in the By-Election section.
However, great joy as there is almost certainly going to be a summer by-election for Northumbria PCC as Vera Baird has been appointed Victims Commissione. The voter can't wait!
I've renamed the Parliamentary by-elections board. There doesn't seem to be a better place for these to go, and there aren't enough PCC by-elections to justify a separate board for them. The two previous PCC byelections are in this section anyway.

One solution to this is to have local authority councillors select a candidate to end the PCCs term.

You seem to have contradicted yourself.

Students gone, summer holidays, election fatigue, unimportant position. How bad can turnout get?

The appointment of Vera Baird is symptomatic of the general overall crapness of Theresa May's administration. Blair spent years stuffing quangos and sundry posts with lefties and you can bet Corbyn will do the same if he gets a chance. But obviously May and her useless mob are unable to grasp the nettle on this, as with everything else.

Students gone, summer holidays, election fatigue, unimportant position. How bad can turnout get? The timing is caused by the fact that the Home Office wrote the rules for PCC by-elections. All PCC vacancies have to be filled within 35 working days.
