Hi,
I'm sure someone with admin rights can start a topic in the By-Election section.
However, great joy as there is almost certainly going to be a summer by-election for Northumbria PCC as Vera Baird has been appointed Victims Commissione. The voter can't wait!

We may love all these consecutive elections, but let's spare a thought for the poor folks at the local electoral services department, who will have to run their third election this summer.
And having done so, here are the past results
2016
Labour Vera Baird 180,479 55.3% Conservative Stewart Hay 58,713 18.0% UKIP Melanie Hurst 52,293 16.0% Liberal Democrat Jonathan Wallace 34,757 10.7%
2012
Labour Vera Baird 100,170 56.02% Conservative Phil Butler 45,845 25.64% UKIP Alistair Baxter 18,876 10.56% Liberal Democrat Peter Andras 13,916 7.78%

I've renamed the Parliamentary by-elections board. There doesn't seem to be a better place for these to go, and there aren't enough PCC by-elections to justify a separate board for them.

I would be tempted to stand myself! The deposit for PCC elections is five grand.

Is 'Northumbria' Northumberland plus the old Tyne and Wear metropolitan county?

Yes, having looked it up to see if Durham/Darlington was in!

Surly her resignation/disqualification as a PPC can wait until the six month rule kicks in. I can’t see anyone keen for a by-election at this time at this level.

I was wondering about this too - we're less than a year away from the next set of all out PCC elections, after all. Does Baird have to resign the moment she becomes Victims' Commissioner?

This is the year of the unexpected election so another one isn't as much of a shock as it might be.

I think Labour will do pretty well here relative to 2012/2016, Vera Baird was definitely a vote loser for Labour and was unpopular locally amongst the few people who had heard of her. They could push 60% I reckon.

A chance for the Brexit Party. An extra £350 million a week for policing?
