Here you go. Interestingly she is only stepping down from the city council and remains a county councillor. Ah well, trying to be city, county and MEP really would be impossible Gina Dowding currently wears exactly that triple-hat in Lancaster. I suspect she's waiting until we know whether we're going to be in the EU beyond October before making any moves.

Vacancy in Ryhall & Casterton Ward of Rutland County Council.
An unusual cause - failure to sign acceptance of office (and by a long-standing cllr).
The offender (Chris Parsons IND) was re-elected (uncontested) in May. Ryhall & Casterton is a two-member ward; the other member is a CON.

My first thought is that councillor is probably unwell.

Is it just me, or does Rutland have more than its fair share of vacancies?

Is it just me, or does Rutland have more than its fair share of vacancies? Rutland has 26 members. It is barely more populous than the 3 member wards of Birmingham, Leeds or Sheffield. That's a log more civically minded people to find

But I see the revised structure gives even more councillors per head of population. Very approximately: Birmingham has 12,000 people per councillor Rutland has 1,500 people per councillor. [nb I'm using population rather than electorate for these calculations]

Quite sensible timing with the double vacancy - the Tories would probably hold one in a double vacancy, but stand very little chance in a single vacancy...

A double by election run on STV then? Yes - it's happened once before - Leith Walk ward in Edinburgh in 2015 IIRC.
