No sign of any Brexit Party candidates in local elections yet, then, but UKIP still keep plugging away.

Can I bring up a technical point? I have a bookmark on this thread and yet for the last three weeks it has not mentioned any new posts (despite the fact there have been) could someone investigate why please?

The two Gloucester by-elections both have a full slate of Conservative, Labour, Lib Dem, Green, UKIP and Brexit Party - this is the first time the Brexit Party have stood in local elections.

Interesting to see the Cambridge by-election. To give up your seat now to concentrate on being an MEP appears a real gesture of faith in the UK's continued EU membership beyond 31 October.

Its probably more honest than to pretend you could do both jobs successfully given the travelling, but has any statement been made as to why?

Strange things going on in Shropshire where Jane MacKenzie (Labour, Bayston Hill, Column and Sutton division) was disqualified under the six month rule yesterday but was then able to prove she had attended a committee meeting during the six months, and has been reinstated.
Meanwhile there is a vacancy in Meole division where Nic Laurens (Conservative) has resigned.

Do you know more details? How did they notice, or not notice? In more general terms, I have sometimes wondered how different councils keep track of things like that. Is each council supposed to have a dedicated officer whose job specifically includes keeping a tally of which councillors attend which meetings? I seem to remember that a few years ago, a councillor was disqualified after about 10 months of non-attendance, because it took that long before anybody noticed.
