This week’s update

There are 14 by elections scheduled for the remainder of February and 4 so far for March. There are a further 26 known or impending vacancies where there is currently no date for the by-election, of which 7 could be double elections in May, and there are 15 vacancies covered by the six month rule.

Thanks, corrected in the post.

I think nearly all those will be on 2nd May to coincide with PCC elections. It will boost turnout for the PCC elections in those wards!

Brian is just obsessed with contesting elections.

On one memorable occasion he stood (on the same day):

a) to defend his seat on Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council (Shavington);
b) to attempt to get elected to North Shropshire District Council (Hodnet);
c) to attempt to get elected to Madeley Parish Council.

Yes, three different places, in three different counties.

He lost all three.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer person.

The vague connection I suppose was his leadership of the Conservatives on the old Crewe and Nantwich BC, which would have given him a profile in Crewe (certainly he was quick to comment on Radio Stoke criticising Leighton Hospital).

That's a real shame - I knew Keith a while back and he was an outstanding cllr. Oscott really was his fiefdom.
