The Hartlepool, Manor House vacancy is covered by the six-month rule as Hartlepool has all-up elections next year with new boundaries. A shame: this was the ward where my grandparents lived and I was looking forward to writing the preview.
Bristol, Brislington East has been called for 16th January.

Not sure if this has been noted.
The death of Cllr Dorothy Flude (Labour) means a vacancy in the Crewe South ward of Cheshire East Council.

Brent has published a Notice of Election, calling all four vacancies on 23 January (including Alperton). Thanks. I have corrected it! I wonder if any council has elected as many as 4 new councillors on one day outside of scheduled elections before?

In 2015 four SNP Glasgow councillors were elected to Parliament, and all four resulting by-elections were held on the same day (5 August).

How many councillors were elected to Parliament this week?
It's been mentioned on the Sheffield Hallam thread that the six month rule would apply to Olivia Blake's seat in Walkley, Sheffield.
I also know of Sara Britcliffe being a councillor for St Andrews in Hyndburn, the other seat in the ward is up in May.

I read that 2 Ealing cllrs were elected as MPs too. New Orpington MP Gareth Bacon is a Bexley cllr. Suspect the majority of London by-elections will wait until the Mayoral and Assembly elections in May.

Out of interest how many by-elections will have to occur in Scotland following the recent election and where? They don't have to happen, but there are four councillors now MPs. Ellon and District, Aberdeenshire - Richard Thomson (Gordon) - Conservatives first in 2017. Kincorth/Nigg/Cove, Aberdeen - Stephen Flynn (Aberdeen South) - SNP first in 2017. Perth City North, Perth and Kinross - Dave Doogan (Angus) - SNP first in 2017. Thorniewood, North Lanarkshire - Steven Bonnar (Coatbridge, Chryston and Bellshill) - Labour first in 2017 and won by-election in September.

New Orpington MP Gareth Bacon is a cllr in Bexley (Longlands) as well as being a London Assembly member. I imagine he will stand down from both roles in May 2020?
