Off topic but I hate the name “Brecon and Radnorshire” and wish the constituency would revert to it’s former name of “Brecon and Radnor”. You're going to have to fight with Foggy . The Conservatives insisted, in Wales and Scotland alike, on returning to "traditional counties". Indeed - there are those, and I have met them, who hanker after the return to the traditional counties instead of Powys. Radnor Unitary Authority anyone?

This seat was Labour for decades, but is a stronger LD seat than Montgomeryshire (Liberal from 1880 to 1979 and 1983 to 2010)

The mining bit was taken out of it iirc (and would have closed by now anyway) and the MP survived on personal vote for a bit.

You are referring to Caerwyn Roderick, I presume.

Sorry ive missed it , has a by-election date actually been set? No - and not one for a recall petition earlier. They have to wait until he's been sentenced to do that, although regardless of the sentence they will set that because of the nature of the crime. Incidentally, Davies hasn't been suspended from the party or parliamentary group.

What if the 1985 b-e hadn’t happened?

What if the 1985 b-e hadn’t happened? We wouldn't be discussing it.

What if the 1985 b-e hadn’t happened? The Lib/SDP Alliance / Lib Dems would not have had a boost, and it would have stayed as a Con/ Lab marginal. It would have been gained by Labour in 1997 and then Conservative in c.2005.

If the ComRes poll is even nearly accurate, this is a nailed-on LD gain. There's a constituency poll?

Mrs J Hore speaks up for Chris Davies MP, in a way that will have anyone who knows anything about the law wanting to interrupt.

"How can I help that nice Mr Davies? I know! I'll write a 5 column letter to the local paper reminding everybody of all the details of the case. That should help."

If Kirsty stood she would certainly be a shoo in though Labour would be loath to lose her at Education, and her vote is important in propping up the Labour Government in Wales.

The Lib Dems candidate will be Jane Dodds, she has already been selected as PPC regardless of whether this comes to a by-election.
