Cheshire has several different accents. The north-eastern bit and Wirral is a slightly refined Scouse accent. Chester is similar but sounds slightly more Welsh. In the north-west you get a middle-class Manchester/Stockport accent. Congleton and south east Cheshire are mostly Potteries-influenced. Crewe is almost impossible to separate because the railway has drawn people from all over. Rural S Cheshire is/was distinctive, but rapidly vanishing. I found from my time teaching down there that affecting a pseudo-Mancunian accent was popular amongst the youth.

What I don't get is why lie about a minor speeding charge? Dunno, how many points did she have already? If she was on 9 points, I can (sort of) see a motivation. IIRC, Chris Huhne was on 9 points when committing the same offence. And he was wrong, too. Never saw her agitating for an increase in the speed limit in this country and an auto-bahn type german system if she was involved in civil disobedience up to 9 points worth. I believe MPs should face the stiffest sentences available to set an example, given they created these laws and impose them upon others. That this is a Brexit constituency, we may see Corbyn come out more pro leave. What might give him cause for thought is Tony Blair who might be contemplating the recent goal of Paddy Ashdown to set up a 'centrist' party to fight Brexit. This could be their time.

Assuming there is going to be a byelection, what do we think about the possibility of Patrick O'Flynn standing for the SDP, he looks set to be unemployed shortly, lives not that far away, must have some name recognition in the constituency, a good opportunity to get some traction for his new party. Peterborough should be somewhere where they could do well. A nastier thought: Stephen Yaxley-Lennon/"Tommy Robinson" might feel as if he could do well in this seat, especially given the general political environment. How about the following SOPN, eh? Labour - Helen Clark Conservative - Stewart Jackson Liberal Democrat - Gary Lineker Independent - George Galloway Pro-Brexit something or other party - Nigel Farage SDP - Patrick O'Flynn UKIP - Tommy Robinson With the Green Party candidate being David Icke's remarkable return due to his spiritual homes absence of leadership and Lucas turning into an EU reptile.

I rather like the idea of saving the Green Party from alien reptiles. No doubt hedgehog would plead exemption on the grounds that he is a mammal.....

I don't think the rest of us would see ourselves as reptiles either! But back on topic, I would be surprised if we don't field the same candidate as last time, Fiona Radic.

He really doesn't have any other fixed principles to his politics these days.

"It quoted an unidentified Labour MP".
Or, in other words - made it up.

Fiona Onasanya compared herself to the risen Christ, Chuka thinks he is.

Even at this point Onasanya is still more credible than the Daily Express.

She's getting to be up there with Mandy Richards. She not played the race card yet?

Here is a real quote from a Labour MP:
‘I want to highlight something that I hope the Minister will cover. The lower the category, the lower the sentence, with little in the way of repercussions. That makes the crime even more attractive because it is low risk and high reward, so that needs to be borne in mind when looking at sentencing.’

One of the more bizarre newspaper purchases of recent times, especially given the state of the Mirror group itself. What they have planned for it is anybody's guess....
