If Nadine doesn't jump I suspect that at some point she may go so far out on a limb as to have it sawn off behind her (ie expelled).

Why doesn't CCHQ give her permission to run for the police commissioner post in Bedfordshire? CCHQ would finally get rid of her, without having to defect to UKIP. This way her seat would be still held by the Conservatives in the resulting by-election.

This way her seat would be still held by the Conservatives in the resulting by-election. Because a) she probably isn't interested; b) might have difficulty winning a contested selection and c) would transform a Labour victory from an outside chance to better than evens odds.

The love for Mad Nad on here - even from Tories ;D You should see what we've been saying on our own board about her! Up until a couple of days ago, I was fine with her, but not anymore. She's had two sh*tty tweets from me. When a right-wing tory MP loses the support of The Situation - they're in trouble!

The love for Mad Nad on here - even from Tories ;D What I have said on the conservative forum is the polite version of what I think of her. A period of silence on her part would be welcome. I can imagine there have been one or two (past or present) labour figures who the labour posters on here generally dislike.

Personally, I don't think Dorries has ever or could ever sink lower than when she blamed child sex abuse on the victims not saying no. The idea of someone with her views even standing for police commisioner is just too horrific to contemplate.

I think that in the medium term Dorries has done Cameron a favour. She's gone so far across the line that even the most usual of suspects wouldn't follow her lead. I was astonished by what she said - the language was more provocative than even most of us would use. I think she will become the Bob Marshall-Andrews of the Tory party. I do wonder whether you will be as indulgent to your mavericks as we were to ours when we were in government. I share your astonishment in what she said. Can anyone remember a government back bencher making such a spiteful personal attack on a Prime Minister? I certainly can't recall Bob Marshall-Andrews being this personal in his attacks on Blair.

The nearest Labour parallel is perhaps Charles Clarke - and to the poster above (who I know is a newbie) we most certainly did, and do, give him every bit of the respect that he so thoroughly deserves

I have no doubt a week Friday we will see a defection or two being high profile.

Does that count? Your Thurrock reported that Teresa Gorman has signed the nomination paper of UKIP candidate (Orsett ward). Local UKIP says “Mrs Gorman has been with us for some time. She is fed up with the present situation and wants to see change.”
John Major is sending out the invitations for the celebration party.

Hey, I'm pretty sure Leeds was MY remit Anyway, I saw this coming through my Twitter feed and thought "I wonder if Vote-UK would be interested" and decided against it. Noticeable that Conservative candidate from the Headingley ward last year and former chair of Leeds Conservative Future has defected too. Still more amusing than anything else.
