She has actually left the Labour Party twice (she didn't mention this the second time), firstly not long after her term as an MP ended in 2010 and again few months ago, both protests against the general direction of the party. She rejoined when Corbyn became the leader & left when he wasn't. She tried to portray herself as a lifelong Labour member when she left more recently, but this wasn't exactly true as she was out of the party for 4-5 years or so. (I was for about 6 months.) Sounds like she endorsed Salma Yaqoob in Hall Green ahead of Roger Godsiff as well

Seen this posted in a few places now. I thought she left Labour a while ago, so 'joining the Green Party over Gaza' seems like an interesting headline suggesting defection when it is maybe a general progression into Green politics. "I went to where antisemitism is still cool"

In Powys a new group has arisen, the Powys Independents. This consists of fifteen of the various non-party councillors, including all seven members of the Independents group, all six of the Independent's for Powys (sic), and two of the no description councillors. The state of the council is therefore 22 LD, 15 PI, 14 Con, 9 Lab, 4 Non-affiliated (one of whom is Green), 3 PC, 1 Vacancy.

Salma Yaqoob is now a Labour member, or at least was at the time of the last GE and I haven't heard that she's left. Of course Godsiff was deselected in 2019, and stood independently. We thought that ee couldn't get a worse MP than him, but Tahir Ali has proved us wrong, rather sadly and there are rumours of discontent within some parts of the CLP. But he's still in place for now.

Ms Musarrat Khan - Dalton, Kirkless - Labour to Independant. Genuinely shocked at that one Mus was always seen as a great team player. Definitely not in the same camp as some of the other Gaza defectors

Kirklees results were very disappointing for many. That kind of low moral is hard to overcome.

All these defectors could form their own Khanate Does that make the Lib Dems the Golden Horde? Both have a lot of members who loudly object to housebuilding.

Carmarthenshire, Llandybie (2027). Dai Nicholas, Plaid Cymru to Independent Unaffiliated. I think this costs Plaid Cymru their majority - they now have 37 of 75 councillors.
Reigate & Banstead, "Lower Kingswood, Tadworth & Walton" (2028). Zelanie Cooper, Independent to Residents Association.

I am surprised that Huddersfield CLP have not selected a candidate for the General Election since Barry Shearman announced he was standing down ages ago. Are we to assume that those seeking nomination have done their sums and have a good idea how the vote will go?
