Latest poll shows Bolsonaro leading the first round with 26%, with Haddad and Gomes next at 13%. This looks increasingly like a question of who can scrape together enough votes to face off against Bolsonaro.
If it is Gomes, Bolsonaro stands a chance of winning overall although it will be a hideous choice. Gomes belongs to the PDT, who are a bizarre catch-all party of the Left that includes anti-Rousseff obsessives, Marxists, general lefty cranks, and also pro-American leftists, as the former leader Brizola was rescued by the Yanks from being murdered by the Uruguayan junta.

Gomes might even be the stronger Stop Bolsonaro of the two, amazingly.

"Cicero" - a serious right-liberal german weekly - wrote in an article apparently (i haven't bought the magazine), that with a thriving criminality the military has had to take over more and more responsibilities in the recent past. Perhaps a coup d'etat cannot be entirely excluded, if PT will win (very likely) the 5th election in a row? A general was reported with such a remark few months ago.

Why is Haddad ahead of Bolsonaro is the latest polls? Formerly Haddad was the only one, whom Bolsonaro could have beaten. But now the left is assembling behind him.

Most PollingStations (those of 20 states) have already closed, 5 states will do soonly, 1 in 1.5 hours. First regional exit-polls (governors&senators) are very encouraging for the Right.

In the latest polls the momentum for Haddad has faded and Bolsonaro has taken some lead in most questioning the RunOff.

Rumours going round that Bolsonaro may have won outright tonight. Bloody hell. He was only on 35% in the polls until recently.

Well, it was fishy, that the AssassinationAttempt didn't lead to a stronger lead in the OpinionPolls. But such an OutCome would be an immense failure for the polling-industry (only 1 pollster saw him above 50%).

If the Graun is to be believed, it looks like everyone with an Italian surname voted for Bolsonaro.
Anyway, they are talking of other exit polls showing a total implosion for the PT.

You wouldn't have thought someone like Bolsanaro could win an election in a country where white people comprise only about 45% of the population.

I grew up in a school that was mostly a mix of southeast Asian and white people who got along well. Racism didn't end just because people there were exposed to each other; although it's fair to say it was probably weakened significantly in that environment, it endured for the most part, and oriented itself towards black people and Jews. If people want to blame an 'other' without worrying about their friends getting hurt, they'll find one.

99.8% done. 46%:29%:12% - Bolsonaro won't squeeze much more from Alckmin aso., but Hadded would have to energize all others for PT, what is very difficult to imagine.
