LibDems on cloud nine! Lab 42 Con 33 LibDem 12 UKIP 8 Approval -28 What accounts for the LibDems being on 10-12% as opposed to 7-10% as they were a few months ago?

I can't imagine Labour's lead has come about because their European policies are in step with the most of the electorate. However, as is the case with the Conservatives, I dare say Labour's grassroot members are considerably more Eurosceptic than the leadership. Wasn't there a survey recently that showed the pro-europe % increasing it's lead over the 'out' camp ? I would guess that as the issue hits the headlines, so people will think about it more, so the opinion polls will mean more. Where they end up of course, is a different matter. Nissan announce record car exports, 50% staying within the EU. All part of their EU business & partnerships, in Hungary, Spain, Germany... & the UK.

YouGov asked what outcome of the next election people would prefer to see:
Lab maj: 30% Con maj: 29% Lab/LD coalition: 14% Con/LD coalition: 9% Don't know: 18%
I don't know whether minority governments were an option.

I don't know whether minority governments were an option Given that the figures you posted add up to 100%, I suspect not Re the LibDem increase here, there are a variety of explanations. Worth noting not all other pollsters are backing it up, though.

So today we have: Lab 44 Con 34 LibDem 9 UKIP 8 Approval -34 I think most will agree this is not a terribly exciting set of figures, mainly notable for the LibDems dropping from their high point yesterday. But apparently, the Currant Bun deemed them worthy of the shreiking headline "ED POLL AXED - CAM SLASHES LABOUR LEAD" ;D

Approval -30 (was -27 at the weekend) I guess the HMV & Blockbuster announcements have added to the 'approval' rating.

of course everyone will be looking at these figures tomorrow, but surely today's EU news was so well trailed it will already be factored in.

Tomorrow morning's poll will have been taken at least partly already - we will really have to wait until Friday......
